1. Who we are and what this policy covers
Trice is a home-services brand operated by Quantis Sphere LLP, a limited liability partnership registered in Tamil Nadu, India (“Trice”, “we”, “us”). Registered office: 7/38c/1 Devicode, Tholady, Moovottukonam, Palukal, Kanyakumari, Vilavancode, Tamil Nadu – 629170, India.
For the personal data described here, we are the Data Fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the DPDP Act). This policy covers:
- this website (booking, booking look-up, call-back, waitlist and app-launch forms, partner registration and privacy requests);
- the Trice app for customers (Android and iOS);
- the Trice Partner app for verified Trice service partners (Android, and iOS if we release it).
We follow the DPDP Act and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 (the DPDP Rules). Until the DPDP Act fully replaces them (expected in May 2027), we also follow the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 (the SPDI Rules), which apply to sensitive data such as biometric data and bank details.
In short. We collect what we need to book, deliver and pay for home services and to keep customers and partners safe. We do not sell personal data, show ads, or track you across other companies’ apps or websites. For partners, Aadhaar is optional, and we never store a full Aadhaar number or the Aadhaar photo. You can delete your account in the app or on our Delete account page.
2. Data we collect on this website
- Bookings: your name, mobile number, email (optional), area and PIN code, address and landmark, date and time slot, the services you choose, your notes and any offer code.
- Booking look-up and cancellation: the booking ID and the mobile number used for the booking, and the reason if you cancel.
- Call-back, waitlist, app-launch alert and referral forms: your name, mobile number, area and what you tell us. If you refer a friend, the details you give us about them — please ask them first.
- Partner registration: your name, mobile number, the work you do, your area, your free hours and your confirmation that you are 18 or older.
- Privacy and deletion requests: your name, mobile number, email (optional), whether you are a customer or partner, and what you want us to do.
- Review reports: the reason you choose and any note you add when you report a public review. You do not need an account to report.
- With every form: the consent sentence and version you agreed to, the page language, the page you sent it from, the link or campaign that brought you to our site (for example UTM tags), a random request ID, and technical data our servers log for security (IP address, browser type, time).
We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies on this website. If we add them, they will load only after you accept them in a cookie banner, and we will update this policy first. See Cookies and storage for what we store in your browser.
3. Data we collect in the Trice app (customers)
- Account: your name, mobile number (checked with a one-time code we send by SMS), and email (optional).
- Addresses: the addresses you save, with area and PIN code. We do not ask for a map point.
- Location: the app asks for your phone’s approximate location only when you tap “Use my current location”, and only while you use the app. Your phone turns it into a PIN code, and only the PIN code is sent to us, to find your area and check that we serve it. The location itself is not sent or stored. You can always type your address instead. We do not track your location.
- Safety: your answers to “Are you safe?” check-ins, emergency alerts you send during a visit and any note you add, and, only if you choose to send it with an emergency alert, your phone’s approximate location at that moment.
- Camera: used only when you scan the QR code on your partner’s ID badge, to check that they are the Trice partner you booked. Nothing is recorded or saved.
- Bookings: the services and packages, date and slot, notes, the start code you give your partner, status updates, the partner assigned, and any cancellation reason.
- Payments: the amount due, whether you paid by UPI or cash, the UPI transaction reference, your answer to “Did you pay in cash?”, and any tip you choose to add. Until Trice’s UPI ID is set up, payment is in cash only. You pay by UPI in your own UPI app, to Trice’s own UPI ID, so we never see your UPI PIN, card details or bank passwords.
- Feedback: star ratings, tags and comments about your partner and the service; a public review, only if you tick “Share as a public review”; issue reports (“Something went wrong”); partners you ask us not to send again; and answers to our occasional satisfaction survey (0–10 score and comment).
- Help: call-back requests and messages you send us.
- Chat with your partner: while a partner is assigned to your booking you can chat with them in the app. We keep the messages you both write (text, or a ready-made quick reply), when they were sent and read, and automatic lines about the visit such as “Partner on the way”. You cannot send photos or files in chat. See In-app chat.
- Device and sign-in: a push-notification token, an app install ID (made by the app), the type of phone system, the app version and your language; for each sign-in session, the device ID and the internet (IP) address when it started and was last used.
- Notifications: each notification we send you is also kept as a message in the app’s inbox.
- App usage: our server can record simple first-party events such as “booking started”, but at launch the apps send none. We do not use advertising IDs or third-party analytics.
- Crash reports: only if crash reporting is switched on (it is off at launch): technical details when the app crashes. We remove phone numbers, addresses and tokens before a report is sent, and crash reports are not linked to your account.
- On your phone: the app keeps a copy of up to 3 open bookings, including the start code, so you can show the code at the door without a signal. The copy is removed when the booking closes or you sign out.
The Trice app does not read your phone’s contacts, photos, SMS or other messages, microphone, health data, files or calendar, and it uses the camera only for the badge scan above. The only messages we keep are the chat messages you write in the Trice app.
4. Data we collect in the Trice Partner app (partners)
Partner accounts are created by Trice staff after you apply and are invited. In the Trice Partner app we collect:
- Account and work: your name, mobile number, the sign-in code or staff code you use, your work types and area, whether you are Ready for jobs, the jobs offered to you and your answer (with the reason if you decline), job progress and checklists, and the payment you record at the end of a job (cash received, paid to Trice by UPI, or not paid).
- Precise location: only while the app is open and you are Ready for jobs or on a job, about every 3 minutes, and when you press Alert Trice in SOS. We use it to offer you nearby jobs, to show the customer that you are on the way, and to find you quickly in an emergency. Customers never see where you are: only a distance rounded to 0.1 km and the arrival time you enter. When you are Not ready, the app does not send your location; your latest point stays on your record until a newer one replaces it. You can turn location off in your phone settings and still work; we then offer jobs near your home area, and SOS will not share your location.
- Earnings and payouts: your pay for each job, tips (100% of a tip goes to you, as its own line in your payout), weekly payouts, and your UPI ID or bank account number and IFSC.
- Feedback: ratings and praise tags customers give you, and the reports you make about a customer (“Problem with this customer”).
- Chat with the customer: while you are assigned to a booking you can chat with its customer. We keep the messages you both write, when they were sent and read, and the automatic lines about the job. See In-app chat.
- Photo: the badge photo our staff take at Registration Day. Customers see it, with your first name, while you work with Trice.
- Verification data: see How we verify partners.
- Device and crash reports: a push-notification token, a device ID and crash reports. The Trice Partner app has no usage analytics.
5. How we verify partners
Customers let our partners into their homes, so we check every partner before they get jobs. At launch every check is done in person by Trice staff at a Registration Day at our office, and nobody can sign in to the Trice Partner app until staff have approved them.
5.1 What we check at launch
- Identity: staff see your original ID. Aadhaar is not compulsory: a Voter ID, driving licence, PAN card or passport is equally accepted, and choosing another ID does not affect whether you get work with Trice.
- If you use Aadhaar, staff scan its Secure QR code with UIDAI’s own QR scanner app and compare the photo it shows with you. The photo is only viewed, never saved. We do not use Aadhaar OTP or biometric authentication (e-KYC).
- For any ID we record only the type of ID and the last 4 digits of its number. We never photocopy, photograph or scan your card, and we never store your full Aadhaar number, your Virtual ID, the Aadhaar photo or the QR data.
- Age: that you are 18 or older, from the ID.
- Badge photo: staff take the photo for your Trice ID badge.
- Electricians: a valid wireman certificate (number and expiry).
- Payout account: the UPI ID or bank account and IFSC you give us, and the name on it. Your full account number and UPI ID are stored encrypted; staff see them masked.
- We use these details only to confirm who you are, that you are 18 or older and to pay you, never for any other purpose.
5.2 Not in use at launch
- We plan to add checks in the Trice Partner app later: a face check (liveness) with Amazon Web Services, an in-app scan of the Aadhaar Secure QR code, and an automatic bank or UPI check with a payment-verification partner. None of these is in use at launch. Before we start any of them we will update this policy and ask for your consent in the app first.
- We do not check references with previous employers or customers.
5.3 Police verification
- With your consent — you also sign a paper consent at our office, as Tamil Nadu Police require — Trice applies to Tamil Nadu Police for your verification. We send the police your name, address and ID details.
- We keep the application number, the status and the police report. The report is stored encrypted. We ask for a new verification every 2 years.
5.4 Staff review and access
- Only trained staff with a special reviewer role can see badge photos, bank details and police reports. Every time they open one, we log who opened it, when and why.
- Staff approve or reject each partner. If a step needs to be redone, the app tells you which step and why.
- You can withdraw your consent at any time in Profile → Delete my data or by telling Trice staff. Withdrawing may mean we cannot give you jobs, and we delete your verification data as described in How long we keep data.
6. Why we use your data, and on what basis
We use personal data only for the purposes below. Under the DPDP Act we rely on your consent, or on a legitimate use the Act allows (for example, data you voluntarily give us for a specific purpose, such as a booking, or data the law requires us to keep).
| Purpose | Data used | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Create and run your account, and sign you in | Account data, sign-in identifiers, device data | Consent; data you give us for this purpose |
| Take, confirm and deliver bookings; give the assigned partner what they need to reach you | Booking and address data | Data you give us for this purpose; consent |
| Payments, invoices, tips and partner payouts | Payment, earnings and bank or UPI data | Required by tax and accounting law; data you give us for this purpose |
| Booking and job notifications | Push token, device data | Consent (your phone’s notification permission) |
| Let the customer and the assigned partner arrange the visit by chat, and keep chats safe (hiding contact details, checking for abuse, reports) | Chat messages, booking data | Data you give us for this purpose; safety of customers and partners |
| Offers and news | Name, mobile number | Separate consent, off by default; you can turn it off at any time |
| Verify partners’ identity, age and background | Verification data (see “How we verify partners”) | Explicit consent for each item |
| Offer jobs near a partner, show the customer the partner is on the way, and respond to SOS | Partner precise location | Consent (in-app notice and your phone’s location permission) |
| Ratings, public reviews, moderation, reports and blocking | Feedback data | Data you give us for this purpose; consent for public reviews |
| Handle complaints, damage claims, re-service and safety incidents | Booking, feedback, issue and SOS data | Data you give us for this purpose; legal claims |
| Keep our services secure; prevent fraud, spam and misuse | Technical data, logs, sign-in data | Required by the DPDP Rules (security safeguards and logs) |
| Fix crashes and improve the apps and website | Crash reports, first-party usage events | Consent; crash reports are not linked to you |
| Meet legal duties and answer lawful requests | Only what the request needs | Required by law |
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not build profiles of you for anyone else.
7. Consent and how to withdraw it
When we ask for consent, we show a clear notice in English or Tamil and ask you to tick a box or tap “I agree”. We record what you agreed to and when. You can withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it:
- Trice app: turn off notifications or offers in Account settings or your phone settings; remove a public review in Account → My reviews; or delete your account (Account → Delete account).
- Trice Partner app: Profile → Delete my data, or tell Trice staff which item you withdraw (for example police verification or the badge photo). Location can be turned off in your phone settings.
- Website: use our Delete account page, or send us a message on our Help page.
Withdrawing consent does not affect what we did before, but we may not be able to provide some services without the data (for example, we cannot give jobs to a partner who is not verified).
9. Ratings and public reviews
- Your star ratings and comments are private feedback to Trice. They help us coach partners and count towards the average ratings we show.
- A public review appears only if you tick “Share as a public review” (it is never ticked for you). It shows your first name, area, the service and the month — never your full name, phone number or address — with a “Verified booking” label.
- Every public review is checked by our staff before it appears, using our Review guidelines. We never edit your words and we do not remove reviews because they are negative. Trice may post a reply under a review.
- Anyone can report a public review. We act on reports within 24 hours.
- You can remove your public review at any time in Account → My reviews, or ask us through Help. When you delete your account, your public reviews are taken down immediately.
- We never pay or reward anyone for a review, and staff or partners may not post reviews.
10. In-app chat
- Who can chat: only the customer of a booking and the partner assigned to it, and only while the partner is assigned. If Trice gives the job to another partner, the first chat closes and the new partner starts a new one.
- When it closes: 2 hours after the visit is completed or cancelled the chat becomes read-only. Trice staff can also close a chat, and blocking someone closes it.
- Contact details stay private: phone numbers, e-mail addresses, UPI IDs, links and the start code you type in a message are hidden from the other person (shown as dots), and the message is marked for our staff to look at; the rest of the message is still delivered. We keep the original text, for staff only. Messages with abusive words are also marked for review. Messages are text or a ready-made quick reply, up to 1,000 characters.
- Who at Trice can read chats: only staff with the Admin or Operations Manager role (or the older Manager role), for example to check a report, a complaint or a safety problem. Customer support staff cannot read chats. Every time staff open a chat it is recorded (who, when), and staff can hide a message or close a chat only with a reason, which is also recorded.
- Reports: you can report a chat in the app. It opens a support case; if you say you feel unsafe, it is treated like an emergency alert.
- Notifications say only that you have a new message, never what it says.
- How long: every chat is deleted 180 days after it closed. If a customer deletes their account, the text of their messages is replaced by “[removed]” straight away.
11. How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires. Then we delete it or make it anonymous. Where the law requires us to keep a record, we keep only what is needed and use it for nothing else.
| Data | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Account, profile and saved addresses | While you use Trice, until you delete your account. |
| Booking, invoice, payment and tip records (including UPI references) | 8 years, as tax and LLP accounting laws require. Your name is minimised after you delete your account. |
| Ratings, comments and survey answers | While your account is active; anonymised when you delete your account. |
| Public reviews | Until you remove them or delete your account (then taken down at once). |
| Issue reports, damage claims, safety incidents and review reports | Until resolved, then 3 years for possible legal claims, or longer if the law or an investigation requires. |
| Waitlist sign-ups | Until we start in your area, then 12 months, or until you ask us to delete them. |
| App-launch alerts | Until the apps launch, then 3 months. |
| Call-back requests and messages | 12 months after we close them. |
| Chat messages with your partner | Deleted 180 days after the chat closed. If you delete your account, the text of your messages is replaced by “[removed]” at once. |
| Notifications in the app’s inbox | While your account is active. |
| Record of each notification sent | 90 days. |
| Push tokens and device IDs | Switched off when you sign out or the token stops working; deleted when your account is anonymised. |
| Sign-in sessions | Deleted 30 days after the session expires. |
| Sign-in, security and server logs | 1 year (the minimum the DPDP Rules require). |
| Crash reports | Up to 90 days. |
| Record of a deletion request (date, masked mobile number, what we deleted) | 3 years, so we can show we acted on it. |
| Data | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Aadhaar QR data, Aadhaar photo, full Aadhaar number, card images | Never stored. |
| Badge photo | While you work with Trice; deleted 90 days after you stop. |
| ID details we keep (type of ID and last 4 digits), verification checklist and decision | While you work with Trice, then 3 years. |
| Police report | While you work with Trice; deleted 1 year after you stop. The application number and status are kept with the verification record (3 years). |
| Payout and earnings records | 8 years, as tax and LLP accounting laws require. |
| UPI ID or bank account for payouts | While you work with Trice, until your last payout is settled. |
| Latest location point while Ready | Only the latest point, until a newer one replaces it. |
| Location sent on a job (the job trail) | 90 days, unless it is part of a safety incident (then up to 3 years). |
| Chat messages with customers | Deleted 180 days after the chat closed. |
| Applicants who are not approved, or who withdraw | Deleted after 90 days, except a small record (a one-way code of your phone number and ID details, and the decision) kept for 1 year to prevent repeat fraud. |
| Logs of staff access to verification data | 3 years (at least 1 year, as the DPDP Rules require). |
After we delete a partner’s Aadhaar-related data, we confirm it to the partner by a call or an app notification.
12. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:
- get a summary of the personal data we hold about you, how we use it, and who we have shared it with;
- have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected, completed or updated;
- have your data erased when it is no longer needed or when you withdraw consent, unless the law requires us to keep it;
- withdraw your consent at any time (see Consent and how to withdraw it);
- have your grievances handled by our Grievance Officer;
- nominate another person to exercise these rights for you in the event of your death or incapacity.
| What you want | Trice app | Trice Partner app | Website or anyone |
|---|---|---|---|
| A copy or summary of your data | Account → Download my data | Profile → Get a copy of my data | Help page (topic “Privacy or my data”) |
| Correct your data | Account (profile and addresses) | Tell Trice staff, or Help | Help page |
| Delete your account and data | Account → Delete account | Profile → Delete my data | Delete account page |
| Complain | Help, then the Grievance Officer | Help, then the Grievance Officer | Grievance Officer |
To protect you, we confirm your identity before acting — usually with a one-time code in the app or a call to the mobile number on your account. We reply within the time the law allows, and aim to finish within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
13. Deleting your account
- Trice app: Account → Delete account, then confirm with the code we send by SMS. If you have an open booking, cancel it first, or we delete your account after it ends.
- Trice Partner app: Profile → Delete my data, then confirm. You will not get jobs after this. Our staff then erase your data once no job or payout is open.
- Website: the form on our Delete account page works for customers, partners and anyone who used a website form.
When you delete your account in the Trice app, we sign you out on every device, stop notifications, take down your public reviews at once, and close the account. After a 7-day waiting period (and once no booking is open) we anonymise it: your name, phone number, addresses, the text of your ratings, chat messages and issue reports, and your devices are removed. Our staff confirm by phone when it is done. We keep only the records listed in How long we keep data that the law requires — mainly booking, invoice and payment records, for 8 years, with your name removed.
14. Children
Trice, the Trice app and the Trice Partner app are only for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. Partners must be 18 or older, and we check the date of birth during verification. If we learn that someone under 18 has given us personal data, we delete it.
15. How we protect your data
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for the website, the apps and our servers.
- Partner verification files (badge photos, police reports) are stored encrypted with a separate key, never as public files, and can be opened only through a logged viewer.
- Sign-in tokens are stored securely on your phone and hashed on our servers; passwords and keys are stored encrypted.
- Access only for staff who need it, with separate roles, and logs of who accessed what, kept for at least 1 year.
- Daily backups, encrypted on our server before they are stored off-site, and contracts with every service provider that handles personal data.
If a personal data breach happens, we will tell the people affected without delay and report it to the Data Protection Board of India within 72 hours, as the DPDP Rules require. Any misuse of Aadhaar-related data will also be reported to UIDAI within 72 hours.
