Plumber and electrician charges in Coimbatore (2026 price guide)
Visit fee, job price and parts explained, with published Coimbatore plumber and electrician prices and how to avoid a surprise bill.
A plumber or electrician’s bill in Coimbatore has up to three parts: a visit (or inspection) fee, the price of the job itself, and any parts. Published prices for small jobs range from under ₹100 for a switch or tap on Urban Company’s app to ₹500–₹1,500 for a simple plumbing repair in Sulekha’s own estimate. Sulekha puts an electrician’s minimum visiting charge at around ₹250–₹500 an hour, not counting parts.
Those numbers are far apart because they price different things. Before comparing, check which of the three parts a price covers.
Visit fee, job price and parts
- Visit fee. What you pay for someone to come, look and tell you what is wrong. Some providers drop it if you go ahead with the work; others always charge it.
- Job price. The labour for a specific task: replacing a tap, fixing a fan, changing a switch. Fixed-price providers list these; others may quote on the spot.
- Parts. The tap, switch, cartridge, pipe or MCB itself. It is usually charged separately, and it is where surprise bills tend to come from.
A low job price can still become a much bigger bill once the visit fee and the part are added. Always add all three before you compare.

Urban Company’s plumber page also says the visitation fee comes off “on orders above ₹500”, and that if no service is taken you pay only the visiting charge. On parts, it says the choice is yours: buy them yourself or ask the professional to get them.

A leaking tap, priced three ways
Say the kitchen tap drips and the cartridge inside is worn out.
- Repair: a plumber replaces the washer or cartridge. You pay the visit fee (if any), the repair price and the part.
- Replacement: the old tap comes off and a new one goes on. You pay the visit fee, the replacement price and the new tap, which you can buy yourself if you prefer a brand.
- A hidden leak: if water is coming from inside a wall, it is no longer a small job. Ask for a written quote before any tile is broken.
In every case, the part is the variable. A basic tap and a branded mixer can be very different in price, so ask for the part’s name and price before it is fitted.
How to avoid a surprise bill
- Describe the problem clearly when you book. A photo of the leak or the sparking switch helps the technician bring the right tools.
- Ask about the visit fee. How much is it, and is it dropped if the work goes ahead?
- Get the job price before work starts. Not after.
- Ask for parts to be quoted before they are fitted. You can also buy them yourself.
- Keep the old part until the job is done. It helps if there is a question about what was replaced.
- Check the work, then pay. Run the tap, flush the tank, switch the fan on at every speed.
- Ask what happens if the problem comes back.
Agree the price of the job and the parts before the first tool comes out. A good technician will not mind being asked.
