How Trice works
How to prepare your home for a house help visit
A practical checklist for Coimbatore homes before hourly house help arrives: the task list, supplies, security, valuables, pets, the start code and paying.
To prepare your home for a house help visit, write down the jobs you want done in order of importance, keep your cleaning supplies where they can be found, tell your apartment security who is coming, put away valuables and medicines, and settle your pets in another room. Keep your phone with you, because you will check the helper’s badge in the app and give the start code at the door.
It takes about ten minutes, and it is the difference between a visit that finishes what matters and one that spends the first half hour looking for the mop. Here is the full checklist.
Decide the task list, in order
An hourly visit is short, so the order matters more than the length of the list. Write it down, or keep it in your head and say it at the door, with the most important job first. If time runs out, the last item is the one left for another day.
Trice house help is booked for at least 2 hours, and you can add more. Tell us the tasks and we’ll suggest how long. As a rough guide (every home is different):
| Booking | Price | A typical plan |
|---|---|---|
| 2 hours | ₹398 | The daily basics: dishes, kitchen counter, sweeping and mopping |
| 3 hours | ₹597 | The basics, plus a load of laundry or the bathrooms |
| 4 hours | ₹796 | Before guests: the basics, laundry, bathrooms and tidying rooms |
Each hour is ₹199. Be specific: “mop the hall and both bedrooms” is easier to finish well than “clean the house”.
Keep supplies ready
For hourly and backup help, our partner uses your home’s cleaning supplies. Before the visit, put these in one place:
- Broom, mop and bucket
- Floor cleaner
- Dishwash liquid and a scrub pad
- Detergent, if laundry is on the list
- Toilet brush and bathroom cleaner, if bathrooms are on the list
- Dusters or cloths, and garbage bags
Cleaning products: the safe basics
Most products used for everyday cleaning are safe when used as the label says. The CDC’s advice on cleaning and disinfecting at home (accessed October 2026) comes down to a few rules worth sharing with anyone who cleans your home:
- Do not mix products or chemicals with each other. For example, never pour a bleach-based cleaner into a toilet that already has another cleaner in it.
- Make sure there is good ventilation indoors: switch on a fan, or open a window or door.
- Wear the protective equipment the label recommends, such as gloves.
- Read and follow the directions on the label of disinfecting products.
- Store and use chemicals out of the reach of children and pets.
- Wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds after use.
Keep products in their original, labelled bottles, so nobody has to guess what is inside.
Tell your apartment security
If you live in a gated community or apartment, tell the gate before the visit: the day, the time you were given, and that a Trice partner is coming to your flat. If your apartment issues visitor passes or uses a visitor app, add the visit there. It saves the partner waiting at the gate, and it saves you a call in the middle of your work.
Put away valuables and medicines
Put jewellery, cash, watches and important documents in a cupboard you can lock. That is sensible with any visitor, not only house help. It also keeps small things from being moved while surfaces are wiped.
Do the same with medicines. Collect tablets from the dining table, the bedside and the kitchen counter into one box, and keep it out of the way. Counters can then be cleaned properly, and nothing gets knocked into the dustbin.
Pets
Pet care is not part of house help, and not every helper is comfortable around animals. Before the visit, settle your dog or cat in a room that is not on today’s list, or on a lead with someone at home. When we call to confirm your booking, tell us you have a pet.
What’s included, and what’s not
Included in hourly house help:
- Sweeping and mopping floors
- Dusting and tidying rooms
- Washing dishes and wiping the kitchen counter
- Laundry: machine wash, drying and folding
- Kitchen prep: washing and cutting vegetables
- Everyday bathroom cleaning
Not included: cooking full meals; deep cleaning (book the deep-cleaning crew for that); moving furniture or heavy lifting; cleaning outside windows or at height; childcare, elder care or pet care.
If your list includes something from the second group, it is better to know before the visit than at the door.
At the door: the badge, then the start code
Someone should be home to let the partner in and show them what to do. In the app you will see your partner’s first name, photo and badge code. When they arrive, check that the photo ID badge they carry matches. Only then give them the start code, in person, at the door. Never read it out over the phone to anyone.
Phone numbers are not shared between you and the partner; if either of you needs to call, the call goes through Trice support. Here is what ID-checked means at Trice, including what we check and what we don’t.
Paying after the job
When the work is done, walk through the list together. Then pay the amount shown at booking, by UPI or cash. You pay only after the job, and there are no hidden charges.
If something was missed or you are not happy, tell us with Report an issue on the booking in the Trice app, or request a call back on our help page, and our support team will look into it with you.
How Trice can help
Trice house help by the hour costs ₹199 an hour, with a 2-hour minimum, in Saravanampatti and nearby areas (see where we work). Book on the website or in the Trice app, and pay after the job. If your regular helper has not come today, read what to do when your maid didn’t come.
